Canadian Resources for People with Down Syndrome

Down syndrome connects us to many great resources within our community and nationally. The Down Syndrome Community is incredibly supportive and connected. We are happy to connect you with any resources and supports you may need, including the ones we’ve listed below.

Planned Lifetime Advocacy Canada (PLAN) — A family-led organization founded to secure the future of people with disabilities.

Reach Canada — A lawyer referral organization that helps people with disabilities.

Partners for Planning (P4P) — This organization aims to empower individuals with disabilities and their families by providing free resources. This creates meaningful lives and secure futures, rooting these individuals in their respective communities. P4P also provides free webinars that are extremely useful and informative.

Easter Seals Incontinency Grant — This grant provides a grant annually (in two payments) to families to offset the costs of supplies for incontinence and diapers.

Easter Seals Access 2 Card Program — This program is designed for individuals who have a permanent disability and require a support person for assistance. It aims, without financial burden, to improve social inclusion and access to entertainment, different experiences, and recreation and cultural opportunities.

Special Services at Home — This program helps families who are caring for a child with a developmental or physical disability, as well as adults with a developmental disability.

Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) — The Ontario Disability Support Program helps people with disabilities who are in financial need pay for living expenses, like food and housing.

Canada Child Tax Benefit — The Canada Child Tax Benefit is a tax-free monthly payment made to eligible families to help them with the cost of raising children under age 18.

Canada Revenue Agency – Person with Disabilities — Tax information specifically for persons with disabilities.

Canada Benefits — Government of Canada website connecting Canadians with government benefits.
